Design Wall Monday - Easy Street

I finished machine quilting one of my Quiltville UFO's on the weekend (woohoo!) and decided I would like to make some progress on last year's mystery (Easy Street) so that it will be a finished top by the time the new Celtic Solstice mystery starts on Friday. I am so close to finishing my "Easy Street" top.
This is how it looks on my design wall, which is too small for this size of quilt!
Only the first 3 diagonal rows are actually sewn together, but I am making progress.

When I got the Easy Street box out of the UFO closet, I was delighted to see that I had written myself this note.
I love it when I am a little bit organized! I knew exactly where I left off and how to quickly get oriented to the next step. Yay me!

I have all the block components sewn, just need to put a few more blocks together.
Oh dear... there is a mistake I see on this photo. I hope I don't sew it together like that! In reading over my blog posts about Easy Street, I read that I have already purchased a backing for it. I didn't remember that!  It's just one more reason for writing a blog - to remind yourself of your plans and your purchases!
Hmmm.... wonder where that backing is!?!?

Easy Street looks great. You've been moving right along on those UFOs. I've never done one of Bonnie's mysteries because I'm always scared I won't like it. But looking at both of your's makes me think I should take a chance with this years.

You are doing really well with your UFO's this month! I am still working on Christmas gifts that I can't show yet. All I can say is 7 people are getting quilts for Christmas and I started the first one at BIQR. I have been sewing like a mad woman since then... I love the colours in easy street. Maybe some day....

Love how your easy street is coming out and if I ever leave a top not finished I will hope to remember to write myself a note... glad you did... it is much easier to pick up where you left off :) Good pointer!!! Good luck getting this top complete before her new mystery starts Friday... I will watch this time and plan to play with the next mystery :) But a die hard follower of quilt cams and using leader/enders :) Kathi

I have started using scrap book boxes (the kind with the hinged lid attached) for my projects. I sometimes make copies of the project if it is out of a book, so I dont have to scrounge for the book. It also keeps me from starting something if I don't have an empty box to hold the project! SOMETIMES! lolol Love your Easy Street colors...

oops spin that flying goose around!! I too have been working on UFO's. Got another one pinned and marked last night. I am going to try my hand at free motion quilting..so if you hear strange noise coming from the north, it is just me wondering what the heck I am doing!!!

OH Easy Street, how you taunt me. Mine is ready to quilt, I'm not ready to quilt it. ;)
It's always good to find the booboo before you get the finish. Love your note, I try to do the same thing as I mention in my post today. It's becoming very necessary.

Kathy, clearly great minds think alike! I also want to finish my "Easy Street" before beginning this year's mystery. I am at almost the same point as you! Thanks for reminding me to get to work on that quilt!

Yeah for the push to finish the Easy Street top. I've decided I'm pulling out my Easy Street when everyone else is working on Celtic Solstice. I'll be playing along but way far behind! But I'll be happier if I finish some things rather than start some things. NOTEs keep me sane. Of course, only if I write myself one. It took me several moments before I saw the turned flying goose. Hope my Easy Street looks as good as yours.

Good for you--one down, another on the way to being a flimsy. Just in time to dive into another one!
I wouldn't know if I love when I am a little organized or not. Don't think I have ever been there. : )

LOL, This one looks very familiar! Through the year I've seen these same colors all over the WEB. Good to write a note so you know where yo left off. and the BOO BOO is on the outside of the block, easier to fix. I am so glad my Easy Street wasn't on my UFO list this year. I got it done in good time. I'm not using the same colors as Bonnie on CS this year and my Background will all be ONE fabric. My Easy Street was just TOO BUSY with all the prints I used for Background.

Glad to see you're getting Easy Street finished. My Easy Street sat for weeks with 90% of it sewn together. I just needed to sew 2 diagonal seams but kept procrastinating. When I finally decided it would be a wedding quilt, that provided the 'kick' I needed. Got it sewn, basted, quilted and bound in 8 days. I'm ready for Celtic Solstice....except I haven't pulled any fabrics yet. OY!

….LOL….you are too funny…..reading your blog to find out what's in your stash!!

I sooooo love your fabric colors. I didn't do this mystery but am anxious to see the one for this year.

As for your mistake, at least you saw it before you sewed it together. I have a star quilt upstairs that will need 'repairs/a fix before I can sandwich it….sigh

So good to see one of these again... I loved following along last year virtually! I love this color combination so much - good luck getting it together.

Your Easy Street just looks so good. I didn't participate last year but I did save the instructions. I will be making one too at some point in the future.

I'm always happy to discover Notes To Self too! I recently came across a forgotten Baggie of block leftovers in which I'd left myself a sketch! No recollection of having done that :). Your Easy Street is fab, love it! I'm not doing Bonnie's mystery but like to see it unfold!

Your Easy Street looks vaguely familiar. LOL I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in finishing it. My top is done, but I need to piece a backing and that might take another year -- hope not. You are smart to make notes. I try, but sometimes I'm too much in a hurry to clean up and notes don't get made.

this is coming along well and love the colours you have used in it

Our Easy Street colors are very similar. My blocks are all made and two rows sewn together. So we're about at the same place. I'll be putting mine on hold for a week though since we'll be traveling for Thanksgiving. Good luck with yours.
